M&M Spink Arbroath is a small family run business priding itself in production of the local delicacy “The Arbroath Smokie”, now world renowned. It has even gained European status recently, which states it can only be called such if it is produced within a 5 mile radius of Arbroath.

William (Bill) Spink, the founder of M&M Spink has been in business since 1965. He is carrying on the tradition that his parents and grandparents began in the small fishing village of Auchmithie which lies just outside Arbroath.

Bill runs his operation from his home premises at the “fit o’ the toon” overlooking the harbour. The daily display of smoke billowing out from the smoke house is a well established sight in and around the harbour area.

Bill has been featured in numerous articles over the years, in newpapers and magazines. He has also appeared in food guides such as ‘Bon Appetite’ (USA), the ‘Deli and Good Food Directory of Scotland and rough guide to Scotland. However he is most recognised for his appearance with Rick Stein, which featured Bill smoking the haddock on the ‘Sea Fares Guide’. This brought him to audiences worldwide, who now come seeking out this delicacy as a result of the programme.

Bill and his family take great pride in the fact that the fish is prepared and smoked daily, which assures customers of the freshness and quality.
